Equal-bay fence layout calculator

Divide one straight run into equal bays using a maximum post spacing that you supply. This is a sketching aid, not a structural design or a panel order.

Use an existing plan or safely accessible measurements. Exclude gates, corners and separate runs; calculate each straight run separately. A fencing business must confirm boundaries, services, wind exposure, posts and product spacing.

How to use the result

Bays = round up (run ÷ maximum spacing). Equal centre spacing = run ÷ bays. One straight run has bays + 1 posts. End posts are included; shared corner posts, gate posts, panel widths, fixings and foundations are excluded. The maximum spacing must come from the proposed design or product specification.

Use the result as discussion notes only. It is not a professional survey, specification, permission, safety assessment or assurance that work can proceed.
